Hummingbird Farm on Building People Power for Environmental Justice & Land Reformation in San Francisco
On June 6, Hummingbird Farm, based in San Francisco, CA, is giving a lecture on organizing solidarity on Zoom, titled "SF: Solidarity Forever - Building the people power needed for Environmental Justice & Land Reformation."
Lecture preview:
Our lecture will share examples of solidarity organizing across language and cultural barriers that has resulted in community victories of environmental justice to reclaim public land for our community. We learn from the examples of indigenous land defenders from the Philippines to Puerto Rico and all over the world, reconnecting to ancestral wisdoms and relationship to land, working to heal our bodies from the Environmental Racism imposed in our communities and healing the land from the extractive economy of capitalism that centers Profit over People.
From Teach Ins, to movie nights, to planting and harvesting ancestral plants and seeds, we are able to connect to each other and heal by honoring and tending land together in Yelamu, traditional lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone.
